MJ's ready are you?

Is it lame to cry in the movie theater? Just asking...

I wanted to start a topic on it as well, kind of, pre-movie discussion. What is everyone expecting? I have so many mixed feelings. Would be nice to share and know what you guys expect out of the movie (before we actually discuss the movie).

Whether it's lame or not...I will probablt start crying as soon as he's on the screen :(

I'm going with my niece tonight and she's already warned me not to embarrass her lol...so I'll try to sob quietly.

I will be bringing tissues for sure!! I am so afraid I'm going to cry! I just hope I dont all out ugly cry like the episode I had last night!!!! My hubby said if I cry, dance or yell at the screen he's leaving He may as well just drop us off or trade his ticket in on another movie LMAO!!!

LMAO Dareme...my hubby flat out refused to come with me tonight lol. He'll be coming Thursday night when I go again...he figures I'll get all the crying, screaming and/or yelling out tonight....I doubt that. Just knowing that I'll be attending again on Thursday but with 3 generations of my family (13 of us in total) will be enough to make me cry. As for right now, I'm sooooo excited...3 hours to go!!!!!

I don't think i'm going to sleep tonight...i'm replaying everything in my head. God HE WAS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!! His voice was in tip-top shape and man, can he move. I will NEVER EVER EVER get that slow motion crotch grab out of my head...EVER!

Anyone else notice no 1958-2009 ANYWHERE in the film????

I don't blame you for checking...I would do the exact same thing lol. It was fantastic! You will L.O.V.E. it :)

I had been very nervous all day - not knowing what to expect or how I would react. To my surprise and my cousin's relief, I did not cry. It was not sad. I am glad I saw it. I was suprised there was no narration - that likely would have made it sad.

In the beginning, it was difficult to see Michael so thin but after a while my focus was on Michael the performer. Aside from a few awkward dance moves/gestures and a couple of interesting clothing choices, his behavior and demeanor were what I expected to see in a rehearsal environment. He was very much in his element although there were a few points when he seemed to have a few issues with the vocals. This would have been a top notch production. The dancers, musicians, sets and props were EXCELLENT! And well, Michael is Michael and they don't come any better.

@ i-want-u-back, it was odd they did not have those years posted. At the end, there was his picture, his name, his title, and something to the effect that love last forever (???) but no dates

Well, I'm back from the movie and feeling very depressed, Michael was beautiful of course. His voice blew me away. It was better than its ever been on some songs. He missed a few notes here and there but overall just beautiful. Earth Song in particular BLEW ME AWAY! He was really singing the whole time with the exception of Thriller. I dont like the way they did the split screens and the jumping around from day to day during the songs cuz it made it off sync a few times but he was singing and I loved it. There were a few emotional times for me during the movie. When he sang the small part of Speechless I nearly lost it but Tracy wouldnt let me! The J5 thing when he named off the fam made me cry, Man In The Mirror, and I just had tears rolling at the end when This Is It started playing and then when Heal The World came on they really started rolling. I've been on the verge of tears ever since we left. Its all true. "What a loss" and "What could have been". If he could have only done one night! I want that concert! I want Michael.

I know people are going to be saying there are clues in the film. I saw nothing in the film that would be considered a clue of any kind. There were NO DOUBLES except in 2 shots where he jumps through the window in Smooth Criminal and where he full on runs towards a car. I think that was that the scene. But other than that no doubles. He was so tired alot, that you could tell. I loved how funny he was and how commanding he was. He was so beautiful. It just makes me that much more sad to see him and how wonderful he was. To see the person he had become. Still the same but different in a few ways. To me we see the man. A MAN not the man-child. Oh he was playful and flirty, hello long sexy crotch grab toward the end yeeow and I mean YEEEEOOOW lol. Not that we didnt know THE man before but I dont know I cant explain it. I was so impressed with him, more than I ever have been. He was so great. I want more. My husband was very impressed with him. He wants to see it again. We will be seeing it again.

My favorite parts of the film were the day he was all in black, H.O.T. I want everything from that day! And when he did I Just Cant Stop Loving You! I've cried several times writing this!

Ah mymichael! It was sad for me sometimes! Whats sad for me most I think is that this IS it. No more to look forward to:(

Yes, I agree dareme. Either I was just too into the moment or not paying attention to anything other than Michael, but I did not spot any doubles (other than stunt doubles for Smooth Criminal) nor any clues. I did find it odd that there was no RIP at the end with his pic and no dates....that, to me, is strange.

I'm still digesting the whole thing...it wasn't a movie, it was an experience. My appreciation of MJ has soared to heights and beyond...my love for him has grown tenfold. His immense talent was always evident, right from when he took the stage as a little boy...but to see this raw footage of his thoughts and imaginations and utter genius is just mind-blowing. I think what stood out for me incredibly and what I hope everyone who watches it comes to realize, is that with MJ what you saw was what you got...in both the man and the performer. Unlike SO many others, he didn't act one way on stage and another off stage....he wore his heart and soul on his sleeve at all times.

I will be watching it again on Thursday and then most likely again and again. It felt so intimate....hard to explain....but I really felt him and he felt pretty darn good lol...i NEED to feel him again.

@dareme, I totally understand. I made certain to focus on the movie, live in the excitement of the moment and look forward to seeing the performance in its entirity.

Outside of the theatre, reality sets in; Michael is not with us. Can't quite bring myself to say the "D" word at this moment.

So, I have decided go to my happy place by listening to "Rock With You" over and over again (cause you know he was singing that song to me ) and thinking about all the ways he is so wonderful.

Personally I was waiting for the dates and was relieved that they didnt put them there. They said this film was about celebration and wall to wall music and thats what it was. They could have made it very sad and they didnt even though some of us cant help being sad. For that I give them credit. Only that. They should have helped Michael. I dont care what kind of spin they put on this, they are either dumb or bold face liars. I guess money can make you both.

I know exactly what you mean by intimate. And a couple of times he seems to be speaking/singing right into the camera and it seems like its just for us:( Like Speechless. I left that out of my favorite parts above. That is one my favorite parts when he says "I love you"

mymichael I hear you! I tried to focus on just Michael and be in the moment and I totally was, but I am so emotional when it comes to him. Really I wasnt as emotional as I could have been. The way they did the movie was excellent in that they didnt make it real sad. They didnt make it sad at all! Its just the emotions for me.

dareme, I am very angry that with all of those people around him who did not try to help him help himself. INEXCUSABLE!

Michael Jackson shows he still had It to the very end.

"This is it," Michael Jackson told his fans in London, announcing his forthcoming concert tour. "This is the final curtain call." The curtain fell sooner than expected. What is left is this extraordinary documentary, nothing at all like what I was expecting to see. Here is not a sick and drugged man forcing himself through grueling rehearsals, but a spirit embodied by music. Michael Jackson was something else.

The film has been assembled from rehearsals from April through June 2009 for a concert tour scheduled for this summer. The footage was "captured by a few cameras," an opening screen tells us, but they were professional high-def cameras and the sound track is full-range stereo. The result is one of the most revealing music documentaries I've seen.

And it's more than that. It's a portrait of Michael Jackson that belies all the rumors that he would have been too weak to tour. That shows not the slightest trace of a spoiled prima donna. That benefits from the limited number of cameras by allowing us to experience his work in something closer to realistic time, instead of fracturing it into quick cuts. That provides both a good idea of what the final concert would have looked like, and a portrait of the artist at work.

Never raising his voice, never showing anger, always soft-spoken and courteous to his cast and crew, Michael with his director, Kenny Ortega, micro-manages the production. He corrects timing, refines cues, talks about details of music and dance. Seeing him always from a distance, I thought of him as the instrument of his producing operation. Here we see that he was the auteur of his shows.

We know now that Michael was subjected to a cocktail of drugs in the time leading up to his fatal overdose, including the last straw, a drug so dangerous it should only be administered by an anesthesiologist in an operating room. That knowledge makes it hard to understand how he appears to be in superb physical condition. His choreography, built from such precise, abrupt and perfectly-timed movements, is exhausting, but he never shows a sign of tiring. His movements are so well synchronized with the other dancers on stage, who are much younger and highly-trained, that he seems one with them. This is a man in such command of his physical instrument that he makes spinning in place seem as natural as blinking his eye.

He has always been a dancer first, and then a singer. He doesn't specialize in solos. With the exception of a sweet love ballad, his songs all incorporate four backup singers and probably supplementary tracks prerecorded by himself. It is the whole effect he has in mind.

It might have been a hell of a show. Ortega and special effects wizards coordinate pre-filmed sequences with the stage work. There's a horror-movie sequence with ghouls rising from a cemetery (and ghosts that were planned to fly above the audience). Michael is inserted into scenes from Rita Hayworth and Humphrey Bogart movies, and through clever f/x even has a machine-gun battle with Bogie. His environmental pitch is backed by rain forest footage. He rides a cherry-picker high above the audience.

His audience in this case consists entirely of stagehands, gaffers, technicians, and so on. These are working people who have seen it all. They love him. They're not pretending. They love him for his music, and perhaps even more for his attitude. Big stars in rehearsal are not infrequently pains in the ass. Michael plunges in with the spirit of a co-worker, prepared to do the job and go the distance.

How was that possible? Even if he had the body for it, which he obviously did, how did he muster the mental strength? When you have a doctor on duty around the clock to administer the prescription medications you desire, when your idea of a good sleep is reportedly to be unconscious for 24 hours, how do you wake up into such a state of keen alertness? Uppers? I don't think it quite works that way. I was watching like a hawk for any hint of the effects of drug abuse, but couldn't see any. Perhaps it's significant that of all the people in the rehearsal space, he is the only one whose arms are covered at all times by long sleeves.

Well, we don't know how he did it. "This Is It" is proof that he did do it. He didn't let down his investors and colleagues. He was fully prepared for his opening night. He and Kenny Ortega, who also directed this film, were at the top of their game. There's a moving scene on the last day of rehearsal when Jackson and Ortega join hands in a circle with all the others, and thank them. But the concert they worked so hard on was never to be.

This is it.

What a great review although I think he said Michael was lip syncing and he was not except for Thriller.

I loved it like I never loved anything before. It was amazing. I loved him and I thought he looked really good. Cried only in the car on the way back, because could not take my eyes off of Michael during the movie. Did not see any clues or anything like that because I did not see anything else except for him. Backup dancers? What backup dancers? Oh, you mean those guys in the very beginning of the movie?

Loved his jokes and humor. I loved how he jokes off the cuff, without trying too hard, just sneaks in the jokes. That's so cute. Anyways... I don't want to say anything more than that.

dareme and tracy, you guys are so hard on Kenny and others? Did you think he looked too thin? Just want to know... You guys seem to be angry with them more than I thought you would after the movie. Do tell.

When I came in last night, I could not get on to the forum, was down or something. Was devastated not to be able to read what others thought... Even went on MJHD, I think I saw Tracy there (her pic with Michael was the signature)...

I hope everyone here gets a chance to see it. More than once. It was that great!

I'm going to see it in...5 1/2 hors..........clock is ticking....

I've been mulling the movie over in my head...I hardly slept at all last night. It was the best thing I have ever seen on the big screen...ever. I think he looked fantastic...I don't think he looked sick or frail. Sure he was thin, but MJ has always been thin (I compared him in the orange pants to the pics in the Dangerous CD booklet...pg.4, he is just as thin). If he ever looked tired, well who wouldn't? He's 50 and keeping up with dancers half his age. And I'm sure he was under tremendous self-imposed pressure and stress...again, who wouldn't be?

As for the drugs...I agree with Ebert's review. I have quite a bit of experience with people heavily into drugs and in a past life I've dabbled with different things as well. One thing I can say is what we saw on screen does not fit the characteristics of someone heavily into drugs, like they have made him out to be. I'm not saying he didn't take any drugs or that the footage is conclusive...all we can go on is what we've seen of him in the movie. And based on that, he was too 'present,' too focussed, too in control and on top of his game to fit the profile of a person heavily into drugs. He was too into the moment to be so far gone.
Again, this is solely based on what was presented in the movie and from that and taking everything into consideration....his age, his perfectionism, his self-imposed pressure and stress...all of that...I conclude that he was NOT the MJ that the media has portrayed.

On another note...maybe it's just me...but since watching this last night and replaying everything over and over in my head....does anyone else have a feeling that this was not IT? Something tells me that we haven't seen the last of MJ based on what was not shown in the film.

i-want-u-back as I keep saying (boring myself too) they are not going to show MJ looking bad in the film, so we can't REALLY tell from that alone.

I agree vbond...I'm sure they highlighted the best scenes from the footage. All I'm saying is that a person who is heavily into drugs, the way the media has made MJ out to be, does NOT stop taking drugs some days....they take drugs everday. That is how addiction works...the more you take, the more you 'need' to take. Someone as drugged up as MJ was supposed to be would not have had any footage of him looking so focussed and in control and so coherent...let alone 2 hours worth. JMO opinion based on what I've seen with addicts.

Yes agree i-want-u-back that he could not have been addicted - dependent maybe. I doubt uppers would be enough to enable him to keep up with professional dancers!

Great...thanks for posting this vbond. I know it's not much to go on...I mean, if it was ANYONE other than MJ, I would think people that lost their friggen minds thinking they were still alive lol...let alone putting any faith in some woman who claims to be in contact with him LOL. I know, it's just craziness....but I can't explain it, I just don't 'feel' that he's gone. Maybe some day I will...and it will hit me like a ton of bricks, but I haven't felt it yet!

Ok, I will give my real thoughts and feelings. I have kind of avoided it. When we first went into the theater I was bound and determined to look for clues. i payed very close attention to everything. The very first thing that stuck out for me was at the very beginning. It said that he had filmed this to go into a vault for his keeping. I really did think that was strange to read because everything else I have read said that it was filmed in HD because it was probable that he was going to do an HBO special. Interesting they did not mention that at all.

He was very funny at times. When he said that the music needed to simmer, I almost lost it laughing. The keyboardists replied with, "you need a little more booty" and MJ just laughed and laughed. He said, " That's funny" And the man said well you knew what I meant. MJ said, I knew exactly what you meant" That was too hilarious for me.

When they were on stage doing the opening for Smooth Criminal and the shots went off and everyone was just standing there like what the hell do I do next and Kenny was trying to tell MJ what to do, MJ said, "I'm sizzling" OMG that was so freakin funny!!!

Also, when he would tell people exactly what he wanted from them. He was stern! I was actually surprised at how he was giving direction and knew exactly what he wanted. I could see the frustration in his face. As stern and commanding as he was, it was so cute for him to end it with, "It's all for love l.o.v.e. That freakin made me roll laughing. He Kept doing it

He was VERY professionl and VERY caring to all that where around him. I loved it when he was on that Cherry Picker and said Kenny shouldn't have told him it went higher.. Then he waved and said "hello" to someone down below. PRICELESS!

Over-all, the movie for me was good. I did break down a few times.. When he was thanking his brothers and Katherine and Joseph, I kind of lost it.

At the end of the movie when 'This IS It rolled over the credits, it felt very final for me. I lost it again! It just felt like the end. I was like everyone else, WHAT a loss!

I was VERY upset and hurt at his appearance. I payed such close attention to his eyes, speech and movement, that I almost missed the movie for the trees, lol... I am soooooooo ANGRY at Kenny O, AEG and others for what I saw.

He was good... At times he BLEW me away! His live singing was amazzzzzzing! His dancing at times made me want to get up and dance and scream at the screen and whoop and holler! But I could see that he was tired. When he is in the orange pants, at times it looked as though his legs were going to go out on him.

They lied to us. The entire public has been lied to. They were not caring for him. He was tired, he was weak. But at times very alert and energetic. I could tell when he was getting tired how they would cut the clip and move on to something else. It bothered me soo bad!

I have to see it again.. It was hard for me to REALLY enjoy it because I was so mad at what I was seeing. I knew going into it that I was going to see it again, so I payed VERY close attention to EVERYTHING. So much as I said, that I missed a lot of the really great moments because I was analyzing it all. I saw them, but I was looking past them at his weight, his eyes and his body movement.

I wanted to come in here and say that all the rumors about his health were wrong, but I can't. If he faked his death his health really was the reason for it. I went in excited and full of butterflies. I practically ran into the theater I couldn't wait!

But I did not leave with that same enthusiasm. Maybe the second time around, knowing what I know now, I can enjoy that it is his last stage performance and appreciate the gift of seeing him one last time. He was beautiful.

I am happy that there were no doubles and I did not think he was on drugs at all.

This Is It Review: Like Seeing Michael Jackson Again For the First Time

This Is It, the documentary created from footage of Michael Jackson's last rehearsals for what supposed to be a final 50-show run in London this summer, is not a Thriller by any means. But if you're a fan, you'll still love it.

The film, which premiered last night, felt like a trip down memory lane, a riveting live concert, and a behind-the-scenes documentary all rolled into one.

Whatever his private struggles and addictions may have done to him, they aren't evident here as Michael Jackson is vivid, smooth and polished at 50.

When Sony paid $60 million for the rights to 100 hours of rehearsal footage to pare down to two, we still wondered if that could make a decent film.

It did.

When you're working with an unparalleled music icon, that's a plus. A quarter-century later, we see Michael singing "Bad," "Billie Jean," "Wanna Be Starting Something" and other hits, moving just as fluidly as in his heyday.

The music conjures back memories and breaks one's heart. The elaborate sets, 3-D graphics and dancers are also a sight to behold on the big screen.

It is perhaps the portrait of Michael Jackson himself that really makes This Is It worth seeing, however. A perfectionist with a sense of humor, deeply troubled but deeply caring, he was a man who his fans know was not easily put in a box.

The best, and most undeniable thing you can say about Jackson was that he was an artiste. This is obviously the best possible spin on his final days, but nevertheless an honest one. For two hours, it's all about Michael the musician.

No Dr. Conrad Murray, no paternity tests, no drugs, no legal problems.

It's a beautiful thing.

If nothing else, it's a great chance to pay tribute and gaze in amazement one last time at a singer, dancer, icon and entertainer who influenced so many.

This Is It is running only two weeks, though that may be extended depending on how it's received - in 99 countries as of today and 110 by this weekend.

Thanks for sharing Tracy :) It's so interesting for me to read all our reviews of the film, on this site and others. There are two totally different 'takes' on how he looked. I totally respect everyone's opinion and can understand both sides equally. But, for me, at no point in the movie did I ever think he looked so bad that they should have done something to help him. I just didn't get that at all when watching it. He was SO happy in it, I lost count at how many times he laughed and smiled and joked around. He was SO full of love and joy, that's what I noticed most. Sure, he looked tired but which performer doesn't look tired during rehearsals? Especially a 50 year old who is a complete perfectionist and who puts 150% of himself into everything he does. Again, I completely respect everyone's 'take' on MJ in the film and this is JMHO. The bottom line is that whatever the take is on MJ's health and wellbeing, all the fans reviews are coming from a place of deep love for MJ.

absolutely iwantuback. I loved him. He made me smile and he made me laugh. It was so good to see him. I thought he did a wonderful job doing what he does best. But like I said, I was just looking for some sign that he really wasn't sick and I didn't see one. You could tell that he wasn't eating for sure. This is what has set my belief that if he faked his death, it was for no other reason than to save his own life. I respect everyones opinion as well.

Here's more of a little taste for those who haven't seen it yet...and a nice reminder for those of us who have :)

I'm seriously debating going again to the 6:30 show tonight, even though I already have tickets for tomorrow night lol...i know I'm pathetic.

i have watch the movie earlier....it was AMAZING!!!!!!!
i felt his energy and got goosebumps everytime i hear his voice...especially on human nature....
anyone here, notice that michael have aflirty smirk on his face at "the way you make me feel".... sooo cute!!!!

I cried several times, especially when earth song coz he took my breath away...
he remind me and all of us that we need to take actions for our mother earth....

i love seeing him smile and how he give those instructions to the music director...
and YES, Michael seems very tired and exhausted on some shots...poor thing!!!
he looks soo thin, i'm soo furious seeing him like that and no one seems to try to say stop and take a deep breath to Michael...

at the end of the movie, i dont want to leave my sit... it's like i want to recorded in my head, so that i'm able to see him when i close my eyes...
for me, his presence is so real and near...it's like there's nothing happen on June 25th, it's like that day never existed....
I LOVE him soo much!!!!

I will watch it again...already have 2 tickets for the weekends and my cousin also ask me to watch it with her next week...

Oh, i cant seems to get my babe to watch it with me... he loves his music but my babe is more about U2 and the Cure,etc...

actually i dunno what to say. i loved every minute of it, and i loved watching him doing his thing, being totally in his element! and then at the same time i could not enjoy it to the fullest coz i was analyzing everything and looking with a critical eye at his weight, movements, etc....
and now even more then ever before i just cannot believe he could be gone...
i just dont let that thought in my head. now more then ever. mmmm

and u know i was not even a real fan i just always liked his music, but that was it.
it all hit me after 25th. when i actually realized of what an amazing men he was. truly magical, genius, visionary. its hard to grasp...

gosh i really hope that one day we can get some answers to all of this...

i want to finish on a positive note and say that i really and absolutely loved it, and the show would be the best thing that people would be able to see in the whole world!!!!!!

oh and one more thing, i thought that they will show more of some sort of off stage "drama" like real jokes, and people sharing more stories. but i guess it was crunch time, and work afterall heheheheheh

@dareme and tracy, you guys... I was reading Tracy's impressions and it was like word for word what I was thinking!! Did you guys catch the stewardess joke! He's just exceptional. Except that I did not see him that tired and did not have that feeling: oh, poor Michael. I thought he was truly enjoying himself. Yes, like he was in control. Learn from the Master, bee-aach... (only very gently and delicately speeking in Michael's voice and being super polite). But he definitely looked much much skinner, especially compared to Kenny. That man has a big gut. I am thinking of going again this weekend and taking my kiddo with me this time.

Ok I've just come in from seeing TII and its 23:31 here, so I'll just do first impressions :

As someone said in MJHD, a lovely peaceful feeling came over me when the film started. Not like he's resting in peace or anything scary like that, but as if seeing him on the screen and feeling his energy I somehow connected to him and felt calm. I was not expecting to feel that way at all. I thought I would be in tears all the way through, but I just felt this lovely calm energy. Extraordinary.

I think Michael looked good in some clips and exhausted in others. The good clips were when he was wearing the blue version of the O2 shirt, orange pants and silver jacket, and of course the black and white Balmain jacket.
The exhausted clips were the grey/silver suit & red shirt, and particularly the black bomber jacket, white shirt and black T-shirt. The latter was the rehearsal on 23rd June as he is wearing the 'curls for my girls' t-shirt. To me he looked like his energy was failing - he battled through but I could see it in his eyes - they lost their sparkle. I found these clips very hard to watch - he looked anorexic (sorry to use the word). A schoolmate had anorexia and she looked the same way - always feeling cold too. So that explains the layers of clothing and the heating in his house being turned up so high.

Overall though, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and hope if he does comeback, that we can see the proper show, not just some patchy rehearsal footage.

Now that would be a spectacle to remember for the rest of your life!

Did everyone stay till the very end and after the credits?? Apparently, I missed a funny part that was already after the credits. That's it. I am going again this weekend!!!!!!!! I have to see it.

Yeah it was cute ksk. We stayed til it was completely over!

Just got back from watching it again lol...took my older daughter with me this time. I loved it even more this time around. I paid really close attention cause last night I hadn't noticed him looking as bad as some saw him to be....and I just don't see it. I think he looks superb! He is thin in some shots and thinner in others, depending on the clothing but he was in very good form. I think his being tired is expected...anyone practising for a tour would be, that doesn't faze me at all. It's also very difficult to make judgements on his energy level or anything for that matter because we don't have the entire context of the clips they show. The thing for me is that he doesn't ALWAYS look tired, or unmotivated, or 'weak'...if he did, then I'd be worried. For all we know, the clips where he is looking tired were the final takes of that day...after rehearsing for several hours...MJ was known for going 10 hours straight at times. Plus, he wasn't only dancing and singing with this project, as is apparent in the film...he was in charge and in control of EVERY aspect of it...directing, producing, lighting, sound, everything. Those are pretty long days of work I am sure. I can honestly say that I am beat after my normal work day and I don't have to deal with 1/100th of the stuff he was dealing with. God forbid anyone videotaped me towards the end of my day...that would be scary LOL.

I smiled MUCH more this time around watching it and my daughter (who is 12 going on 20) was absolutely enthralled. When it was over she said, "That was a lot better than the Jonas Brothers concert"...and that was just rehearsal footage compared to the Jonas Bros concert she attended a couple months ago....that made me smile even more. To think that MJ has touched this whole new generation who are just now experiencing his magic and will continue to do so, makes my heart smile and I'm sure it does MJ's as well :)

I hope those of you who watch it again will enjoy it as much, if not more, the second or third time around. Maybe it's because I have never believed in the "MJ is a drug addict" rumor, nor bought into the "he was so out of it some days" and the "he was dying in front of their eyes" stories, that I didn't go into the movie 'looking' for signs of these things last night....IDK. But I do know that tonight I did...I let my mind 'go there' and really looked at him closely and IMHO he was simply a man who put his blood, sweat and tears into this because it meant so very much to him to make it perfect for his fans. If he over-worked himself somedays or was tired somedays, I think that's to be expected.

i-want-u-back I think that the flim was intended to dispel the sick/frail rumours, and for most people it probably did. No, he wasn't tired during the whole thing, I agree, and thank God for that. We DID see the ol' Michael magic, and I relished those moments.
I trained as a dancer, and I know when a dancer is covering up for illness or tiredeness. They do cover up VERY WELL; dancers are trained not to show if they hurt or are tired. But I know the signs because I have been trained the same way and know what to look for.

'The show must go on'.

But if you're a dancer and you've watched a dancer for years, you can tell when something is off. That's how I felt at times during TII. I was thankful it was only about 10 minutes of the whole film, but for me it was still there.
I wouldn't go as far to say he was 'dying in front of my eyes' but my concern would be that he was already showing signs of distress, and he hadn't even started any of the concerts. If I had been there at rehearsals on 23rd June, my thought would be that he may well fall ill during the concerts and even be hospitalised due to exhaustion. I would not even have considered that he was going to die.

Having slept on it, I loved the film, loved seeing Michael's working process, loved his humour, loved hearing his beautiful voice, so happy to see him working again on stage.

I agree Vbond with what you say. I think that there were some EXCELLENT sides of Michael in this film. I did see he was tired. I did see that several times it looked as if his legs were going to give out on him.. I even saw one time his arm and hand started shaking.. You know what they do as soon as something starts to happen? They cut the clip and show another one. They think they are foolin us but they're not. He was beautiful in it... When he was doing Beat It and they needed him to do it again and they said. "you dont' have to do it again" it sparked Michaels competitiveness and he did it anyway. I remember thinking "don't do it" and sure enough he did.. That just took all he had out of him. Notice how he walked off... HE had to get away from the group because he was having trouble catching his breath. Even I could see that. I recognize that because I have debilitating panic attacks. I loved it... I really did.. I just think we were lied to about his overall condition. He needed rest and better nutrition.

I am 100% sure this is THE FIRST fil of the series of films!!!!!
As the first one was abour Michael the Entertainer, the second one will be probably be "Michael, the family man"? Remember - "The jacksons - the Dynasty"??
And the third.. maybe "The conspiracy", or something?
The fourth... Hmmm...
I think Michael outsmarted us once more...
But we are good, aren't we? At least we predicted that "This is It" song will be on the credits!
And the ending... after the credits... WOW! That was POWERFUL!!!!!!!

I can't say more because I'm speechless...
